Centre for Polish Folklore – Karolin
Permanent multimedia exhibition exploring the relationship between cultural heritage, collective memory, and the living traditions of Polish folk culture. Located in the historic home of the Mazowsze National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble, the exhibition presents both the diversity of Poland's regional traditions and the artistic legacy of one of the world's leading folk ensembles.
Developed in collaboration with Nizio Design International, the exhibition combines historical artefacts, archival materials, interactive media, and audiovisual installations into a cohesive narrative. The exhibition approaches it as a living cultural practice, continuously reinterpreted through music, dance, costume, craftsmanship, and performance.
As part of the creative team, I co-created the exhibition's multimedia layer, including animations, graphic design, user interface (UI), and user experience (UX). My work focused on translating archival materials, historical narratives, and intangible cultural heritage into a contemporary visual language, creating an immersive environment in which visitors engage with tradition through moving image and interactive media.
The project investigates how digital media can preserve and reinterpret cultural memory through artistic research. By connecting historical collections with contemporary visual storytelling, the exhibition establishes a dialogue between place, tradition, and the generations of artists whose work has shaped the identity of the Mazowsze National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble. The multimedia layer explores tradition as a living and evolving cultural practice, where artistic intervention becomes a method of research. Moving image functions not only as a means of interpretation but also as a tool for activating memory, transmitting intangible cultural heritage, and examining how cultural identity is continuously recreated through artistic practice.
