A theatre production directed by Małgorzata Szydłowska, inspired by the history of Nurt, the first theatre established in Nowa Huta in 1952 by Jan Kurczab. Based on archival research and historical accounts, the performance reconstructs the story of a workers' theatre whose history was gradually erased from collective memory. The production explores theatre as a space of social engagement, artistic freedom, and cultural identity.
I created the multimedia design, combining large-scale video projections with live camera systems integrated into the dramaturgy of the performance. Moving image became an active dramaturgical layer, continuously shifting between archival memory and the actors' live presence. The projections established a contemporary visual framework for a story rooted in the history of Nowa Huta, allowing past and present to coexist within the same theatrical space.
Reflecting Łaźnia Nowa's long-standing interest in the archaeology of memory, the multimedia layer contributed to a theatre of remembrance, where media technologies reactivated forgotten narratives and transformed the stage into a living space of memory, connecting historical experience with contemporary audiences.
