Hamlet, staged at the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków (premiere: December 8, 2019), is a bold reinterpretation of Shakespeare’s classic directed by Bartosz Szydłowski, enriched by the ideas of Stanisław Wyspiański. The production presents Hamlet as a contemporary figure of conscience—an intellectual confronting hypocrisy, grotesque absurdity, and the collapse of values in a post-truth world.
As the multimedia designer, I created the visual layer of the performance, which became an integral part of its dramaturgy. Video projections and digital imagery established a dialogue between the physical stage and a symbolic space, amplifying the emotional depth of the characters and highlighting the tension between truth and illusion. The multimedia design was developed in close synergy with Dominik Strycharski’s music, Małgorzata Szydłowska’s scenography, and Marcin Chlanda’s lighting, resulting in a cohesive and multi-layered theatrical experience.
